This article explains how to select the right geotextile for wet and high-rainfall environments. It examines woven and nonwoven geotextiles, their applications in drainage, soil stabilization, agricultural ponds, aquaculture and geomembrane protection, while covering key technical properties such as tensile strength, puncture resistance, apparent opening size, permittivity and transmissivity.
This article provides a technical overview of micropiles as an effective solution for ground improvement, foundation reinforcement, settlement control, and stabilization of weak or unstable soils. It explains micropile load-transfer mechanisms, soil–grout interaction, bonded length, group effects, grouting techniques, seismic applications, and underpinning of existing foundations.
Jet grouting provides engineers with a flexible method for modifying soil properties without conventional excavation and replacement. Its ability to create engineered soil-cement elements at depth makes it useful for ground improvement, foundation underpinning, excavation support, seepage control and underground construction.
This article provides a practical and engineering-focused overview of blockage in construction, explaining its role as a granular sub-base for ground-contact floors. It covers suitable materials, ground preparation, compaction, drainage considerations, common installation mistakes, and the differences between blockage, blinding concrete, and waterproofing.
